Fast. Forgiving. Excellent under pressure.
No fluff, no latte art. The recipes we actually use in the roastery, written so you can dial in a cup that doesn’t waste the bean. The AeroPress is the most versatile brewer you can own — fast enough for a weekday morning, good enough for a slow Sunday.
Medium-fine · finer than V60

94°C / 201°F
1:30–2:00 total
Set AeroPress on mug, rinse paper filter with hot water
Add 17g coffee, grind medium-fine (finer than V60)
Start timer. Pour 255g water at 94°C
Stir back and forth 10 seconds to saturate all grounds
Insert plunger just past chamber top to create seal
Steep 60 seconds (90 seconds for darker roasts)
At 1:00, press down steadily — should take 20–30 seconds
Stop when you hear the hiss. Dilute with 30g hot water if too strong
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Bitter / Astringent | Grind coarser OR drop water to 90°C |
| Sour / Weak | Grind finer OR raise temp to 96°C OR steep longer |
| Clogging | Grind coarser |
| Too Strong | Bypass with 30–50g water after pressing |
Q: Standard or inverted method?
Standard for most users — faster, easier, less risk of spilling hot coffee. Inverted gives more control but isn’t necessary for a good cup.
Q: What's the ideal grind size for AeroPress?
Finer than V60. Think of fine sand. If it clogs, go coarser. If it’s sour and fast, go finer.
Q: Can I use pre-ground coffee?
You can, but you won’t get the results described here. Grind fresh, even with a basic grinder. It’s the single highest-impact upgrade.
Q: Why is my AeroPress bitter?
Bitter = over-extracted. Three fixes: grind coarser, drop water temp to 90°C, or press faster.
Q: What's the ideal water temperature?
94°C / 201°F for most roasts. Lighter roasts benefit from hotter water (96°C). Darker roasts from cooler (90°C).
