Compact, fast, and excellent.
The AeroPress is the most forgiving brewer you can own. Low pressure, short steep, easy cleanup. Ethiopia works here — the short extraction brings out clarity without muddiness. The inverted method gives you the most control.

15g coffee : 180–210g water (1:12–1:14)
or 2 tbsp / just under 1 cup water
85–92°C / 185–200°F
1:30–2:00 min total
Medium-fine, finer than V60 — pressurized extraction needs it. Think table salt.
Slightly cooler than pour over. The fast extraction doesn’t need as much heat. Too hot = harsh bitterness, too cool = sour. 85–92°C is the zone.
Set up inverted: plunger in ~1cm, chamber facing up.
Inverted prevents drip-through during steep. More control over contact time.
Add 15g grounds. Shake level.
Even bed = even extraction.
Add all water. Stir 5 times.
Full saturation immediately. 5 stirs — not more.
Attach cap with wet paper filter. Let steep for ~30 seconds.
Short steep is intentional. The press does the rest of the work.
Flip onto your mug. Press steadily over ~30 seconds.
Steady pressure. Stop when you hear a hiss — that’s air, not coffee. Forcing more just introduces bitterness.
Drink as-is or add hot water to taste.
AeroPress produces a concentrate. Dilute to 8oz if you want a standard cup.
| Problem | Likely Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Too slow | Grind too fine | Go coarser |
| Too fast | Grind too coarse | Go finer |
| Weak or sour | Under-dosed or grind too coarse | More coffee; grind finer |
